I am a 4th year student studying physics at Bristol University. I attend lectures in the H. H. Wills Physics Labratory (the building on the left), and it is also the place where I perform research for my final year project. See the physics department home page here.

Lecture courses I will be taking this academic year (2004/05):

  • Quantum Mechanics 401
  • Magnetism & Superconductivity 410
  • Statistical Physics 402
  • Particle Physics 408
  • Particle Interactions 308
  • Quantum Information 323
  • Air Water Fire Earth 324

My final year research project is to investigate and fabricate a nanoscale transistor. This work is conducted within the Nanostructures group at the university, and involves the use of an Atmoic Force Microscopes (AFM) to image our samples and perform measurments.

The two images below show the surface of copper (3x3 micron area) prepared at different temperatures. Our aim is to produce a flat surface with which we can construct a transistor.
